at my agency, still a lot of people need to go. There is a whole department that is of no use and they can't place people anywhere and these people are still employed.

My agency didn’t fire anybody but the deferred resignations, VERA, and regular retirements without hiring destroyed us. We’re down a lot and it will take many years to rebuild

I've seen ads for contractors for NOAA. My agency says that we can hire replacement feds, but they fired most of the HR people.

NRO is hiring, but mostly for STEM.

We are hiring but the pool of applicants is weak and management cant seem to understand why. They keep telling us to repost to our LinkedIn and tell our network about the job openings.
But yeah, 1% raise this year, pay freeze coming next year and 0 telework, hard to imagine why applicants arent beating down the doors to work here.

NOAA re-org will probably shed way more than they hire, that’s the word on Reddit.

Similar at my small agency. Seeing a lot of people applying from agencies more in the bullseye than we are.

What agencies remain in bullseye??

Many are staffing up. Most are doing so quietly - below radar. The chain saw cut too many of the wrong people.

We heard that our line office at NOAA is authorized to hire 50 people this year. I have no idea what normal hiring looks like, but I guess great than zero is a step up. Are we turning a corner where agencies will be rebuilding rather than dismantling and RIFfing?

How is at other agencies? Is it business as usual? Has hiring resumed to normal threshold?
