For safety it’s not a huge help; police can usually pinpoint the location of a phone pretty quickly. And if attacked or abducted, ditching the phone will be job one.

But for keeping tabs on a driving teen, or estimating when someone will be home for dinner, it’s quite helpful. I’ve also helped my spouse navigate when a road is blocked with traffic or gps routing is failing (though honestly I can’t remember how that exactly happened).

Most of your apps, the carriers, the phone vendors are all busy tracking you and cameras and license plate readers are keeping tabs. So sharing with people I care about is pretty small beer.

To be fair, odds of OP or her DH getting kidnapped or murdered are minuscule but it can be helpful for more likely smaller emergencies.

Now that you’ve thought about it, what’s stopping you? Any specific reason for this reluctance? If you can stay aware of each other’s well being and can have easy access in case of any emergency, why wouldn’t you want to have that capability.

Sounds good. If one of you got kidnapped, or murdered, it would help tremendously, why wouldn’t you share locations?

My boyfriend of 5 months and I shared locations yesterday. I still share locations with DH (we are separated but remain friends) and our adult children. It’s mostly for safety and convenience.

It was a brand new car that was the problem at the time. We have newer cars, thanks for the advice but newer isn't always better.

Nope.

We do. For me its a way to not nag but know what the afternoon/evening looks like by being able to see if he has left his job site yet.

We don’t. We can track each other’s cars, which is helpful for planning dinner and the like, but we otherwise don’t share locations.

It was useful before apple carplay. DW had a long commute and I didn’t want to distract her. It was helpful to know where she was. The kids liked following the “mama map”.

We do not share locations and never have? No specific reason why we don't its just something we never have done or thought to do.
