I am actually worried that she is going to undermine charters somehow. I've never heard her say a positive word about them, while mcDuffie says charters need to be funded the same as DCPS because half the students attend charters. He clearly has no animosity towards charters but I think JLG actually does.

These are all things Lewis George has noted as problems and/or presented plans for. McDuffie has hardly talked about them or, in the case of reckless driving, made excuses for them.
Overall, I think Lewis George will bring more energy and excitement to the job. Energy and excitement would be very good for our schools right now. We can’t keep coasting on the Fenty reforms 20 years later.
Also, but not as important, the fear mongering from the McDuffie people pushing this idea that Lewis George is only going to have like one day of school is also offputting.
JLG will not spend even 10 seconds thinking about improving government efficiency. That's not who she is at all. But you can sure as heck expect your kid to be in class less. Hope you have a flexible job.

I want better trash pickup. I want a more serious plan for the rats. I want us to figure out how to get more students in school more consistently. I want us to take reckless driving seriously.

If you enjoy having your kid attend only 4 days a week and half days, then JLG is your #1 choice. Janeese is all in for "flexible scheduling". So what is flexible scheduling, you might ask? Get ready for more asynchronous days, 3-day weekends, 4-day weekends, tech days, packet days, enrichment days, independent learning days, camp days, early dismissal days, rotating drop-off days, and teacher office-hours-only days, with fewer actual normal days.

JLB is the endorsed candidate (and strongly, strongly supported) of the WTU. So that may be a positive or a negative for you but it is regardless something to take note of.

McDuffie is the status quo with more personal corruption. JLG probably doesn’t want the same big picture changes in schools that I do. So at a macro level, I don’t really love either of them. However, for me, I will vote JLG because at the micro level she has proven responsive and engaged; she is the only one that got DGS to actually fix some facilities issues in DCPSes. If my school doesn’t have an SLP, I believe that JLG might care and attempt to do something about it, and I think she will appoint a competent Chancellor and require him/her to engage. I have zero confidence in McDuffie on any level. He has no actual opinions on education and is the opposite of responsive or engaged.

I'm having a really hard time with this election, I have serious reservations about both of these candidates.
We are a family that put our kids in both DCPS and charter, and want robust, challenging classes and well-supported teachers.
