People who think they have inalienable rights to climate-controlled 68 degree chill at all times are the reason we have global climate change. Wear a long gauzy dress with metallic sandals, and updo and no makeup aside from lipstick. No one is looking at you anyway.

Sounds nice to me, we had an ice storm on the morning of my January wedding.

We had a summer wedding 20+ years ago because it was easier for our extended family with kids to attend (we had siblings with school-aged children traveling from CA and TX, FL and Rochester, NY). We lucked out, because while it was warm it wasn't humid.

I promise you there are a million reasons why people choose to get married on any particular date, and not a one of them gives a darn about your make-up or your outfit

I have declined several wedding and birthday party invites if they're taking place outdoors in high summer. If there's no beach/ lake/ pool at your summer party, I'm probably not going.

Yes. Plus among people invited there may be elderlies or people with health conditions making hard to stand in the heat for a long time

Not OP but Summer indoors wedding in DC are usually in venues with AC with only a short time in the garden area. If this is the wedding I am thinking of, everything is outdoors (or under a tent). Have you been under a plastic tent when the weather is in the 90s and very humid while wearing a formal dress?

I think we may be invited to the same garden wedding in the breezy DC Summer (formal attire preferred as per invitation). Thunderstorms? Mosquitoes? Heat stroke? Melted cake? We will find out soon enough.. lol

The bolded was addressed in a different thread. Formal does not equal polyester and nylon! I know it's hard to find natural fibers these days, but they do exist...

When it's hot, I do not apply a full face of make-up: I mix a minimal amount of Dior primer and Dior Backstage liquid foundation together in a "natural make-up" look, or just go bare faced after my morning plumper and moisturizer. You can apply waterproof mascara instead of the regular version. Most eyeshadows will migrate and crease into the fold of the eyelid, so maybe don't do eyeshadow. I think lipstick or gloss will be fine.

The main thing is a good deodorant. I recommend Lavilin. For sun protection, feel free to bring a parasol. It will elevate your formalwear!

But yes, in general, I hate hot weather so I sympathize.

Use primer under your makeup.

God I hate them so much. The heat is oppressive so the makeup slides off your face. The formal bit means lots of non breathable fabric. Men have to wear jackets. Poor grandparents are barely hanging in and need so much extra care and attention and everyone is just soggy. Travel and accommodation are more expensive. Like there’s nothing good about it at all.
