OP do NOT show up in tux’s unless you want to look ridiculous. That’s for a black tie optional or black tie wedding. No idea why people are conflating formal with black tie. Totally different and any etiquette guide breaks this down…

What time of day is the wedding and what is the venue?

You can rent tuxes for kids at the same places that rent them for adults! Really easy!

Catholic 7 years olds basically all have a grey or navy suit for first communion so some neighbor will have one that is just hanging in their closet worn once.

Yeah I got a great one on FB marketplace or $20.

? Formal to me does not mean tuxes. "Black tie" means tuxes to me. Formal means suits for men IMO.

The fact that this is your sisters wedding changes it for me in that I think you should be more dressed up assumng you will be in formal photos. I would have DH do a nice suit and suit for the boys or at least a blue blazer and nice dress pants.

Tuxes for all. That's what formal means for men.

Agreed. Also, if the wedding hosts cared so much about formality or were concerned people might not be formal enough, formal is the LAST dress code you’d pick. You’d see black tie (tux) or black tie optional (which means suit at a minimum required). Formal is very wishy washy in execution.

I disagree - formal is a step down from black tie or black tie optional. Nice clean sneakers (sambas, on’s, etc) are fine with a suit for kids. You’ll see adults in khakis with blue blazers - formal is the least clear dress code and it’s always all over the place.

Title says it all- I'll figure out something for myself but the dress code for my sister's wedding is "forma" and I'm wondering what to dress my 7 and 10yo boys in....shirt, slacks and tie? Should the men be wearing tuxes?
