Surely you are aware that many services advertise deceptively, saying they are "organic" or safe for pollinators, when in fact they are spraying a broad spectrum insecticide that kills everything from gnats to butterflies... for a week. After which the nasty short-lifecycle bugs come back with no predatory insects to keep them in check, and the customer calls back for an urgent re-treatment. And then of course there are the people who WANT every bug dead, including and maybe especially bees. I imagine that's who PP was referring to.

Rather than a reflexive contradiction, it would be nice of you to share what service and product you've been happy with.

I have bare faced hornets nest at the edge of my back yard. They devoured all the gnats and mosquitoes. They are voracious eaters.

Same. In NW DC fwiw.

Dunks have been working for us. Not fully eradicated but can be outside and not get 6 bites in a minute…more like 2 bites in 30 mins which I consider a huge win.

It’s also been super dry. They are worse when it’s not drought conditions.

They’re not out in full force yet because the nights have been cold. Should be fully out very soon.

Got my first bite watering plants last night

Haven't seen any mosquitoes yet, and our back yard is usually awful, so I think it's too early to tell.

I haven't seen any mosquitoes this year apart from a stray one last month. We cleaned our gutters and threw dunks in there a few weeks ago but this evening, my son was bitten on his hands from being out in the dusk, repairing his bike. So they are coming slowly but surely, it's just that we don't have an infestation like previous years when I hadn't cleaned my gutters.

I’m not sure if they’re just not out in force yet, (I’m in Petworth) but I’ve been outside all weekend and haven’t gotten a single bite. I’m usually a mosquito magnet.

This year I did mosquito dunk buckets and have been diligent about throwing some BT granules into my sump pump and gutters, and I gave dunks to my neighbors on either side and … no mosquitos. Is it possible? Or too soon to say?
