I tried to avoid books where the fathers are shown as incapable of doing normal household tasks. See also: Peppa Pig.

The old ones, yes. We ALL learned from the messy room one, and reference it often!

I loved the originals as a kid, and I've read many of the originals to my kids and think they teach good lessons (even if some of it, like the one about weight and junk food, is too outdated for my liking). The newer ones that are Christian themed are terrible

My mother in law passed down her entire collection which was almost the entire series. My kids, now as old as 10, still want to pick one for bedtime every night. I agree they are too wordy and corny, but I’ve made peace with them at this point. Better than captain underpants or other drivel. I’d rather read berenstain bears than Dr. Seuss.

Years ago when I was a Nanny I did. Loved them. Now I’m a parent they’re not really around. I might have read a few to my kid from the library. They’re good books.

The Living Lights Berenstain Bears book by the next generation are specifically Christian. The originals are not.

Way too many words on each page for a reasonable bed time story! But my kids read them to themselves in younger years. The newer ones have odd Christian messages so beware. (They are NOT Jewish).

We read pretty much every single one that is available on Libby.

Yes, they are good, solid classics.

I watched them years ago, I guess the old versions. They were fine.

Only if bought cheaply at a booksale.

I never liked them when I was a kid. They had corny interactions.

I preferred Richard Scarry or Dr. Seuss.

Do you read them in your house? Why or why not
