I worked in a fed office and one day out of the blue, I'm told I'm getting a Schedule C "intern" who happened to be the son of a big political donor.

He strutted in, barely looked at me and haughtily asked, "So where's my office and when do I get to travel?"

I pointed and said, "There's your cubicle and you can travel over there to begin learning about our mission and team here."

He spent the rest of the day on the phone loudly demanding another assignment and was gone by the next day.

We all breathed a sigh of relief.

I don't have any beef with the son, or the mom. Im sure many would have done exactly the same. It's the system. Like so blatant. Heart emoji's much?

Ugh. I used to be an internship coordinator for a highly competitive program. It’s gross. I tried to weed them out when I could but when the C-suite wants something they just do it.

Don’t worry OP. The other interns hate him and merely tolerate him.

They used to hire the children of employees of all levels but now they supposedly don't hire emplouyees' kids but that's BS - they just hire the kids of the people at the very top. It's very frustrating to see them hire all the senior executive kids who don't need the money when our daughters who need to save money for college are struggling to get good summer jobs, or just any summer jobs at all other than babysitting.

this should shock no one! Just be professional, supportive of all the interns, and just kiss the boss' kid's ass a lil bit.

Nepotism has been going on since Caesar lectured in the forum. It will never change.

Our company EVP's son is interning in our group. Town hall yesterday had him and three other interns introduce themselves.When it was the son's turn, I have never seen so much spotlight and enthusiasm for any employee, even at Vp level. I'm talking about heart and clap reactions all over. He said he put up a holiday cookie business and everyone clapping like he discovered a cure for aids. I felt bad for the other interns who had to come after him and a significantly more muted reception. It bothered me so much and Im an old crone. We see it in Hollywood. We see it in Academia and Govt. I guess Im surprised why Im so bothered by it. im bothered Im bothered by it. I dont have anything against the kid other than this judgement that he doesnt deserve the unfair advantage. But maybe he does and I just cant see it?
