Bacterial vaginosis can present similar to a yeast infection, but needs different treatment. She really needs to see a doctor. She’s 18, she can’t diagnose herself.

Monistat treats yeast infections and is OTC. Agree with other posters, though, that she should go to the doctor, especially if she’s had this for a while.

Yeah I agree for an 18 year old going to the doctor is improtant.

There are over the counter creams and applications that are specific for yeast infections, and they do work. Or, a simple pill prescribed by her doctor will be quick and easy.

Go to the doctor. Do not use topical medications not prescribed for vaginal application - ketoconazole cream says right on it it's not for use in the vagina. She's 18, she's not a doctor, and unless she has had yeast infections before, she does not actually know.

My 18 year old daughter has a vaginal yeast infection, and she says she's had it for a while now. The issue is she doesn't want to go to the doctor and wants to treat it at home.

Does anyone know any home remedies that actually work? We also have a prescription for Ketoconazole Cream 2% (Fougera) at home, and she wanted to use it. She’s getting conflicting reports online about whether it's okay to use for a vaginal yeast infection.

Can she use it? Has anyone dealt with this before or had success treating a yeast infection at home?
