No one acts like our school is perfect. In fact, I feel like it’s constantly “I pay $60k for this so let me tell you why he and XYZ to change to fit my particular view on how the school should be run”

It’s actually exhausting.

Uhhh, this is absolutely not the case at our so-called Big 3.

Since you call them “Big 3” there is a big red flag indicating the stepford parents syndromes

I explicitly said "so-called" because that's how others on DCUM refer to them. Also, very few parents (if any) at our school think or act like it is flawless.

I think is a matter of class and wealth rather than race.

Agree. But parents get soooo involved.

But I think it is also cultural. Indicating that something is not working well is not considered offensive in many cultures. Just direct feedback that could elicit improvements.

There is very little room for honest discussion. If you raise a concern, people act as if you are being negative rather than simply describing reality. It sometimes feels less like a school community and more like a social performance.

Is it the same in your school?

Every private school has this. It just means you don't know those parents well enough.

1. this can happen at any school, not just private schools (speaking as a parent who has had kids in both)
2. as a reformed complainer, people don't like a complainer. If you have a concern, raise it with the person/people who can actually do something about it. Raising concerns with fellow parents will likely serve to alienate you.
