I would try to send him somewhere like that - music focus, not rustic and sports focused. Maybe look at stuff on college campuses. For example, I went to a music camp at Bowdoin. We slept in dorms, not cabins.

Interlochen us wonderful but rustic. Old cabins w no a/c in the woods w lots of mosquitos, etc. Very different from staying in a college dorm -based program.

Frost Valley in the Catskills is great!

There are still openings in some programs particularly at the start and end of summer.

Not religious, something for everyone, has some arts, some horses, some athletic-y things - but the kids do it all
Its in the middle of nowhere, but the cabins are nice, its not roughing it. My pretty high maintenance, introverted city kid thrives there.

One of my neighbors works for this camp. I have no personal experience with it, but it sounds like it might be a fit. Expensive--at least compared to Y camps--but a Y camp isn't going to have the amenities OP wants.

Note: there are some openings later in the summer.https://www.medolark.com/

I've heard lots of reviews that it's boring.

Closer to home Camp Letts (that's the Y one PP mentioned) and Sandy Hill Camp.
Lots of kids in DC area go to summer camp in WV (e.g., Camp Twin Creeks, Camp Hidden Meadows)
In PA, Mercersburg has summer camps living in dorms.

Long Lake Adventure Camp or Arts camp is good. It's in NY, but a quality program.

Traveling Players theater camp is "dorm-style" but the whole day is outdoors. My kid started in HS but I'm sure the MS programs are as good

Unfortunately, it's not running this year.

"We regret to inform you that the Virginia Space Flight Academy will not be offering its Summer Adventure Camp or STEM Academies in 2026 due to budgetary constraints and facility uncertainty."

You can start with the YMCA sleep away camps. Not sure if you will find room for this summer, but they are a lower price point and often a single week.

Plenty of private options that are pricier and can be longer. Maybe start with a search of past threads here to learn?

I thought about this too late for this summer, but I would love for my 12 yr old DS to go to sleepaway camp, but I don’t know of any. He doesn’t have many close friends, so I would likely send him on his own in the hopes that he would make some. We are looking for something non-religious, progressive values, and probably not too much roughing it (I.e nicer cabins and bathrooms, etc). Anywhere on the east coast is fine. He leans much more to the artsy, creative side than the sporty side. Thanks!
