You shouldn’t be eating 4 cookies

Not rude at all! You're paying for them. I always ask for specific ones if the sizes are noticeably different. I think most bakery people don't even think about it, they just grab whatever's closest. A simple "could I get that bigger one?" with a smile is totally fine. I'd overthink it too but honestly nobody working there is going to judge you for it.

Just ask. No need to demand.

I always point out the specific baked goods I want out of the case.

No it wouldn’t have come across as rude at all - - especially since you were the one buying the cookies. 🍪

Op here. All were the same price. Pre wrapped in fact in Saran Wrap. It looked like there was no uniformity to the way the dough was placed on the trays. It’s also a small bakery rather than a larger store so I’m guessing a staff just baked cookies and they came out all sizes.

If it’s by cookie, I have no problem pointing to the cookie I want to purchase.

You are buying, you choose the cookies.

It's fine, but better to ask before she picks them up.

Or is it rude?

I went to a small bakery this afternoon and they only had 2 sugar cookies left and 6 chocolate chip. Just those two flavors. I purchased four — two of each flavor. The two sugar cookies were large and virtually palm sized. The chocolate chip cookies were a mixture of chips ahoy size and palm sized. She gave me two of the palm sized sugar cookies and then one small, one large size chocolate chip. In the moment I wanted to say, hey can I get the larger size but I stopped myself because I didn’t want to come across as a rude person since she was picking the cookies.

I’ve been thinking about this moment over and over in my mind given the cookies aren’t cheap, I should’ve said something? Or no? Does it come across as rude to ask for a specific cookie in these situations?
