If you join the Facebook group, "NYC Parents of Teens With Disabilities," you will get a ton of recommendations. There are a lot of posts on this subject (along with posts that won't be useful, but I've definitely found it to be a great resource).

She generally gets very good grades, so her public middle school has zero interest in doing anything for her, but she sometimes struggles with concentration - zones out for long periods during tests - and we're worried that might impact her on the SHSAT / Regents and later on in high school.

We used PALs, specifically Dr. Salsberg. They (and he) used to be better...now that they offer "services," they sell hard on tutoring and "improv" and can take a long time to write up your report that you paid insane money for. It's become much more of a mill. But the upside is he is well-known and respected in the NYC public and private school community, so when we brought my DC's report to his school, they didn't push back as hard. Not sure about length to get an appointment, but I know it's crazy everywhere. We originally used Rusk/NYU, which our health plan covered, but it was more limited, and to fight the DOE we ended up getting a more thorough one from PALs. We're now at private school, and they don't follow anything but extra time anyway. Good luck and stick with it...it's a frustrating journey but has definitely helped our family at least understand our child more.

the wait is forever. Even with pulling strings it took over 4 months to get an appointment and that was in LI versus manhattan.
