I use roame to find flights. The best piece of advice when looking for flights on points is to search one way fares. Do not search round trip. It's easier to find deals this way. And, it's not too late to get good points deals to Europe. I was searching last night and found 30K to Paris on American, 18,000 to Brussels on Delta, etc.

What is wrong with answering a simple question (what sites are available) with a simple bit of information? No claim to in-depth or unique analysis. Just simple info.

Because the OP can do that. They want actual recommendations.

Flights often come out 330 days in advance.

(Yes, I'm the person who's waited for the stroke of midnight 330 days in advance to get tickets with miles. Remember too to think about counting the 330 days from your return flight. Unless you want to book as separate one-way flights. Which sometimes is more miles, sometimes not.)

My travel agent uses a flight consolidator and understandably does not deal with points, but he said I probably can get better pricing with the airlines directly.

Also, I am looking at a late October flight. I was told certain airlines have not yet released their "shoulder season" flight schedule. Is that accurate?

Told by who? No that's not accurate. Major airlines schedules are released 11-12 months in advance.

What airport are you traveling from and where are you trying to go? You’re pretty late for trying to get business in October.

We used Point.me last year for business class to London and it was honestly a game changer. You plug in your points balances and it shows you the best redemption options across all the programs. For October availability, most airlines release schedules about 330 days out so you should start seeing options soon. Set up alerts on Seats.aero too, that's how we snagged a Lufthansa first class award last minute.

Why not just call the airline you have points with? It will be about $35. Or, if you have credit card points not associated with one airline, call their travel desk.

There are point gurus out there who are paid to source and book these flights for you. Look for one. I’ve used Becca Alvez and Sergei Milushin with some success. The best ones will be ultra creative in finding these options for you. You are quite late though for October flights but anything is possible.

Flights come out 11-12 months in advance. 10x Travel has a paid service where they will find you the best points options. It’s not cheap though.
