I stopped watching it like 10 min in bc I got a bad feeling the season was going to be abt Anne thawing toward her late husband’s young pregnant girlfriend and learning A Valuable Lesson or something and it was just too cringe. Is it not about that?

But I'll give it a shot!

I also thought they didn't know how 30 something year olds acted in season 1. Someone who's 32 isn't going to be acting like that.

DH and I watched the first 4 episodes of season 2 last night. We decided to give it a second try because a coworker talked about it being so much better than season one. It does take a few episodes to see the difference and I found myself laughing out loud a few times so I think we will continue with it.

I mean, the acting is good. But I don't really get it viscerally as a Gen X person. It doesn't resonate to our generation's struggles.

And it's not Boomers, except for the one character who is inexplicably older than the others. It's purportedly Gen X, although with Boomer-ish traits that I hope stem from the original movie and not what Gen X is becoming. I don't claim them.

True. For those of us 1977-1980 GenX folks, we think of them as Boomerish. We are a totally different generation.

Also agree, and yes took me a bit to get into as well.

I know people have mixed views on the four seasons Tina fey reboot. I watched season 2 and I think it fixed a lot of the issues with season 1. Annie and the Italian guy are much better developed characters — less stereotyped and irritating. The balance feels better and th characters more likeable and realistic. Tina knows how to take a note, I think.
There are some really insightful lines and some really funny one line quips. I felt like all the characters ended up in more satisfying places.

There was a bit where Tina feys character just sort of lists off all the things contributing to her mid aged quasi misery and one of them was “I’m at the pinnacle of a career that I’ve worked my whole life to achieve, and it’s just okay.” Her whole list was very relatable, at least for me.
