I'm taking your advice because I LOVE Avenue Inn. What a gem.

The Chesapeake Bay beach club is a nice, quick overnight getaway for adults. Small but pretty pool area, nice restaurant, spa. Should be less than 90 minutes from close in suburbs.

Farther, Salamander, Tides Inn, Inn at Perry Cabin, Hyatt in Cambridge.

So, it depends on what you want. Forest or Coast.

DE shore

Baltimore or Shenandoah for an overnight.

Kent Island or Harpers Ferry is nice if you just want a day trip.

quickest is Old Town Alexandria, in a really nice hotel toom. It's so relaxing to lounge around at the shops and on the waterfront, and it feels like a different area.

Or a day trip to Shenandoah National Park. Or can stop just short of there and hike and/or camp at Elizabeth's Furnace.

Ocean City area but ONLY in off season, like February.
