We visited Oakcrest on their open house last year, and was very impressed. The school and campus are beautiful, the people were welcoming and friendly. The teachers and administrators were available to answer our questions. They had student harpists playing music in the background. Everything felt very calming and welcoming. Although we liked the school, we ended up not choosing it because it would have been too much of a drive coming from Bethesda everyday.

Hi! I am an alum and had a good experience. It is religious, but when I was there you could opt out of religious services.

It is small, but that enabled everyone in the building to get to know each other. The community is incredibly tight. Most of the teachers were excellent, but I'll admit there were a few that were mediocre at best.

Overall my experience was good.

It’s Opus Dei. Enough said.

Thank you for your kind responses, I really appreciate it. That's especially incredible to hear about the pizza. Although I've been living in the area for a long time I've just heard about this school and it's on my radar. Thank you for confirming that it's a great place to check out!

Hi OP, you come across as very polite and nice. I think that you’ll like Oakcrest as it seems to attract similar people. I have boys, but a friend and her sister are both graduates. They have positive memories, attended great colleges, and now have beautiful families.

I like their advising model where a faculty member takes time to build a relationship with a student and guide them. The school is at a size where students can try out a variety of activities that might not be accessible at a larger school.

The values are traditional. In that way it’s unique to most schools in the area. It’s decidedly Catholic. I have a feeling that if you visit, you’ll get a sense right away as to whether or not Oakcrest would be a good fit. GL!

No direct experience but my DD's tennis team played them last year and they were the most friendly, welcoming group of girls and parents we encountered all year. Oakcrest was having their senior night and they shared the pizza with our team, then while we were waiting for the last match to finish, some of the girls from both teams ended up playing the "king of the court" game together with some younger siblings who were watching. I cannot overstate how friendly the atmosphere was at that match compared to the other teams we played that season.

Got it, thanks for the correction on the name. What is the atmosphere like? Is it very competitive? I am looking for a good balance of academics with good extracurriculars.
