I know this question was raised in previous threads but hoping to get clearer answers about what metrics APS uses to consider pre-algebra placement for 6th graders? My son has tested well in math and we expect he'd be placed in Math 6th Advanced, but I was shocked to hear from him that he would like to try pre-algebra placement. He's a kid who does well by elevated expectations, so while I definitely wouldn't push him for pre-algebra placement, I also want to support him pushing himself if he has the internal motivation. However, I'm not clear if this is even a realistic placement and I can't figure out exactly how this is determined.
