Hello. My sixth grade daughter has dyslexia and has had related articulation issues her whole life. She is now in 6th grade and has been receiving speech therapy in FCPS for her /r/ sounds. However, she hasn't been making any progress and my partner and I feel that she needs to be working on more than just her /r/'s. When she talks, it sounds like she has marbles in her mouth, and we often struggle to understand her. The school has been very dismissive of our concerns, but that's a topic for another post. For now, I'm looking for a private speech therapist. We previously lived in Atlanta and worked with a speech therapist there who was also a dyslexia specialist and my daughter made huge progress with her. I'm looking for a similar therapist here. We are near Fairfax city but willing to travel within NOVA for the right therapist. TIA!
