Contact the companies and let them know that she is now on Medicaid and living in a nursing home. This means all of her income goes to this cost now. They will likely cancel the bill.

The utility company said they would not credit because electricity was used. Well, naturally there was a refrigerator but they would not budge.

Does it cover a period when she lived there?

Does she need the money or are living expenses covered at the nursing home?

I believe in paying legitimate debts.

You may have to pay the utility, but insurance I don’t think so. Maybe ask the property manager?

My parent had to leave an apartment and is now in a nursing home under Medicaid. She has no assets and receives a social security check every month. I cleaned out the apartment and remaining are a bill from the local utility and another for renter's insurance. Not the best question to ask, but should I pay them? Is there anything they can do to her to go after payment, considering her present condition?
