OP here. Don’t the ants track the bait around the house and back out to their nest? How do I stop the dog from licking the bait?

We had pharoah ants and just use the white plastic Raid.

Terro products. It gets worse for a day or two then clears.

I have ants for the first time in years. I bought the Terro baits and of course it just attracts more ants for a while. Then they seem to disappear, but yesterday they all decided to return en masse. I’m not sure what the answer is.

I’m the OP of a thread about seeing more gnats this year as well. I guess they all thrived on our snowcrete Ice Age.

Bait works but I find it's faster to do a good cleaning - not just vacuum but mop, scrub the sink - plus poison sprayed on the backsplash and toe kick right by the sink which is where I find them. IME it's a seasonal thing (spring) and not something that reoccurs enough to keep bait around.

We use Terro drops on painters tape (on back of counters away from pets and kids). The ants come, eat it, take it back to the nest and it kills them. No dead ants to clean up, they just disappear. I think they make packaging that’s pet/kid proof too.

Bait. It's been highly successful for us the few times we've had an invasion. We see a lot of them, then suddenly after a few weeks, they are gone.

These are the only things that work in my experience, and I've tried a bunch.

Suddenly we are finding multiple ants a day. They are small black ones (smaller than carpenter but larger than a sugar ant). We can find no discernible point of entry, we just keep finding them in every single room, one at a time.

We cleaned the house thoroughly over the weekend, found no crumbs or messes. We vacuum often anyway due to a super shedder.

Yes, we have a dog, too, so we don’t know how to treat this infestation. Any ideas?
