They also only take a certain number of patients based on due dates and i’ve heard they “pick” them. seems like a weird HS type popularity setup.

They only have like 3 doctors and they alternate call days. They can only have so many new pregnant patients due around the same time plus they have to deliver their existing patients. In fact numerous Drs have left because the schedule is grueling. I delivered both my kids with them. If you want a practice that doesn't "pick" its patients all the huge ones exist like Reiter Hill.

I recently delivered with Dr. Bren at Bloom and thought she was excellent. I went to Bloom to be her patient and lucked out. The other OBs also seem good though have different styles. I found the admin/support staff side of the practice to be frustrating, bordering on incompetent … but that was not really a patient care issue, just really annoying at times.

I agree with the posts suggesting you check if they are accepting new OB patients. Other posts have described not being able to get into the practice, and I had trouble scheduling my first couple of prenatal appointments even though I was already a patient with Bloom.

Thanks! I did submit the online form and leave a voicemail a few days ago, but I haven't heard back. I'll try again. For my first pregnancy, I was with Dr. Green and Foxhall and absolutely loved her. I did see Dr. Bren once or twice when Dr. Green was unavailable and thought she was great.

After my confirmation appointment, a doctor called me saying my HCG was extremely low, the pregnancy was likely not viable, my HCG should be in the thousands at this point, and I would have needed to ovulate two weeks later for my HCG value to be normal. She ordered a second test to check doubling time was basically said it was going to be a loss. My blood test was at 12dpo. None of what she said was true. When I sent a message to the doctor asking to check my LMP was correct in my chart and wondering if she gave me incorrect information over to phone (if I ovulated 2 weeks late, I literally wouldn't have ovulated yet at the time of my test), she only confirmed my LMP is correct in my chart and acted like the rest didn't happen. I asked again for her to clarify what she told me over the phone and she ignored it.

I also had a D&C there a few months ago and had to remind them I needed the rhogam shot. No one added my blood type to my chart or that I would need it. When I went to get my blood taken at my checkup appointment after the D&C, the phlembotomist said with a big smile "So, are you having a baby?!?"

Can anyone share recent experiences with Bloom? I haven't been completely happy with CWC downtown (L Street location) and I'm debating trying to switch. I'd really like a smaller practice with more personalized care. Open to other recommendations, too! I'm in PG County, so fine with any practice in DC or Maryland. Slight preference for delivering at Sibley.
