Maybe send them a random text message w/a loving image telling them that you love them.

Always appreciated. ❤️

You get to know them well enough to know what matters. Some people love hearing in words how much they mean to you. Others prefer you just ask them about themselves and their day.

Just don't try to show caring through gifts unless you know that is something they just love. A lot of people don't want stuff and find words, special moments and positive engagement the true gifts in life.

I think this is very true

Just attention. In whatever way that you usually give them attention -- give more. Usually call once a month? Call once a week. Go out to dinner as a group? When you go out make a huge effort to listen to them and encourage in whatever way you can. If they are going through something tough, like they mention a health issue or worry about their job -- text within a couple of days and ask "how are you doing with that tough thing?"

Just being thought of, that is the most powerful thing.

This. Just pay attention to what they say and follow up on things. They mention they are trying a new activity? Dealing with something at work? Excited to try out a new recipe? Follow up with them later about how it went/is going. Showing that you pay attention, remember details, and show genuine interest in someone is a great way of showing you care.

What is their love language? e.g. don't waste $ on a gift if their love language is acts of service. There is no universal answer, it is unique to the person.

Ask questions about how they're doing, then listen. Don't immediately make it about you.

What are some ways you could show your close family and friends that you care about them without coming across as cheesy or overbearing?
Sometimes I have hard time finding the right way to show I care about them and love them
