I find that interesting! I loved how in depth the book went about Marcellus.

I enjoyed the book (also on audio) and I’ll watch the movie. I’m curious if the reading vs audio divide is also the “meh” vs enjoyed divide…

I didn't even realize he was the narrator, his character was just an afterthought in the movie, such a mistake.

Glad to read, I am not alone about Marcellus. I thought Alfred Molina was a great choice for the voice of Marcellus so disappointed he didn’t have more lines

I really, really enjoyed the book. I listened to the audiobook on my commute. I almost didn't start the book because the premise seemed so silly to me that an octopus would narrate part of the book.

But it totally worked for me. Marcellus was so wry and witty. I loved his first person POV. It really helped in the audiobook that two different voice actors were used, one for Marcellus and one for everyone else. The sarcasm shone threw in the book.

So I was so disappointed that so many lines were cut in the movie. Marcellus in the movie has less of a presence and didn't have the same sharp, witty delivery. Marcellus connects the dots much earlier through the key, which was cut out of the movie.

Since I loved the book, I was really excited to watch the movie. I even made my teen sons and husband watch the movie with me for Mother' Day. I still liked the movie, but it wasn't anywhere as memorable as the book.

I loved the book, but I can't really see it translating well to film. I might try it this weekend to see.

Movie on Netflix out today. I thought the book was meh, will I like the movie?! The book was very popular in this forum so I figured I’d post here instead of entertainment, but we can discuss both. I’d rather hear from people who read the book first.
