If you hate questions like this then don't read the post! Move right along and read what you agree with.

I think posts like this are really helpful/interesting because you get a sampling of personal antidotes. Tours can only help so much and none of us know more than a tiny handful of current students at any one school. My kid is not going to make the decision based on one data point or one DCUM post but I love hearing about anyone's experience or opinion.

Brown. Cornell and Dartmouth are too isolated. Dartmouth social scene sucks unless you like a boarding school 2.0 setup.

I have a mainstream wocual and athletic son that is a premed at Brown, not a drinker or partier. We toured most of the ivies, the student body is extremely similar. I didn’t know quirky was a thing until reading it here and can’t say I see it in our three years. Perhaps an outdated stereotype, much of what I read on here is false honestly.

Cornell is tough for premed due to location and student body size which makes getting shadow and clinical hours in difficulty. Forces you to make summers and breaks very strategic. They liked Dartmouth also, but a bit too remote and Greek for them. Personal preferences, all great options.

If social means way into the frat scene, Dartmouth.

I know a super mainstream Brown pre-med. Could not be more normal (in a good way). Great kid. Very comfortable at parties. They have plenty of friends at Brown so I assume they were not the only kid like that.

I always had the same generalization about Brown. I think at all Ivies any type of kid will find their people.

If end goal is med school, Brown or Dartmouth hands down, with Brown having the GPA advantage. Mainstream? Probably Dartmouth. Social? All three would do fine.

They all have increasingly similar student bodies now that kids apply to all of them (and every other Ivy) to maximize chances.

But for social and mainstream? Cornell or Dartmouth.

is Brown noticeably more quirky?

Have you not done any research?

I have but I would love to hear people's thoughts.

I'm a new poster. Dartmouth is least quirky, Cornell is a bit more quirky, Brown is the OG of quirkiness.

Which school would you pursue for a kid who wants a social school combined with strong academics?
Which school appeals to you most personally and/or would you choose and why?

Major will vary by school but end goal is medical school.
