They have dressier styles that would also work, but these I could get wet without issue. Sunset Ibiza's are super cute.

Isn't it awkward to walk extensively in something with such a huge platform sole? The upper looks perfectly comfortable to me but the size of the sole is comically large, I feel like I would be tripping all over those, especially on uneven ground or when I was tired.

No, for some reason it was fine. I need the height (5'0")

They also have smaller soles.

I’m 5ft as well and that is just not good for extensive walking in Europe. You ain’t fooling anyone that you’re tall by wearing such clunky shoes.

Glad they work for you, but for many women have a certain age, They’re not going to risk that on cobblestone European Roads.

I wore these with dresses and they were so incredibly comfortable for 12 days in Europe last year. They come in many colors. If I needed to do more strenuous walking /climbing like Pompeii, etc. I wore Rothy sneakers that are super lightweight and comfortable.

I am Parisian born and bred and I prefer very light sneakers with mesh panels (not with heavy padding or huge soles). There's a lot of dust in the summer and I'd rather wear cotton socks and shoes while sightseeing. I wear them with pretty cotton dresses, or other cute outfits. But I'm not gadding about with the barest of heels or sandals. That's for going out to dinner.

I like Birkenstocks with a back strap for this kind of thing. I would also bring sneakers but for days I didn't want to wear sneakers, I'd wear something like this:

I think for serious walking you need sneakers or like a hiking type sandal. Personally, I think hiking type sandals are hideous so a sneaker would be better.

For less serious walking I like a simple Mary Jane that doesn't give me blisters.

What are you wearing the sundresses to/for? My suggestions are different depending on if you will be doing lots of walking, especially over unsteady terrain, versus just wearing out to meals near your hotel.

Also are you wanting to limit yourself to just pair of shoes for all sundresses, since you're traveling (in which case you need something really versatile),or do you want a couple options, in which case you could bring a casual shoe and something dressier?

Sneakers seem ideal to me. Comfortable sandals next, and what type of walking are you talking about - daytime wandering over cobblestone streets (sneakers or a leather sandal you feel comfortable in, for me that would mean one that is secured onto my foot like a fisherman sandals or saltwater sandals), all day walking with light hiking (sneakers or tevas), or evening just a walk to dinner (espadrilles).

Going to Europe next month and will be walking a lot. Looking for comfortable shoes that go well with sundresses. I'd prefer to stay away from sneakers.
