What does that mean? He knows it may or may not happen, but he wants to go for it and get to the highest level he can make - which I support.

Just turned 13. DC has been telling us to do more UTR play so I am also looking at that.

This is super helpful and clearly you have a child that has been through the program, or still there. The issue we're running into is coach availability outside of the program, because we know some 1:1 time would be hugely beneficial (and necessary really to try to meet their goals). The coaches seem very stretched thin and then courts are limited to reserve for the sessions too. I will stay on this though, and your suggestions are really helpful.

To get the most out of JTCC (especially with D1 aspirations) I recommend identifying one or two coaches who seem to click with your child and pursuing private training with them outside the Champs 1 classes. It doesn't have to be weekly or anything, but it will not only get your kid 1:1 coaching opportunities, it will also help the coach get to know your child better and that will improve the coaching they get in class.
Also since in Champs I, you select your training times based on daily availability, ask about when certain coaches are running class and consider arranging your kids training schedule to spend time with the coaches they work best with. There's a lot of flexibility in the Champs I program but you need to think about how to help your kid get the most out of the program.

Does anyone have insight into these two programs? I'm particularly interested for very high level players. JTCC places a lot of emphasis and attention on their full-time players and the coaches seem stretched thin recently. Child has flourished but it is a high price tag for what we seem to be getting right now, and now at a juncture where a decision needs to be made to go for it (which child wants). Their goal is D1. Have recently run across some amazing kids at tournaments that are being trained at JSI, and interested in the program.
Also curious for those with kids who have gone though the program at JTCC, if the coaches have more ability to hone in once they are a little older. We have gone through Junior Champs and now in the Champs 1 program. Child is in middle school.
