OP here - and how about academics? I've search the forums and not much on the academics at the school.

Academics are not the primary focus. If you want someplace rigorous, this is not the place for you. If you want a place that will help your child grow in their capacity to tolerate school and function as a positive member of a school community, this is the right place. They know how to bring students along who struggle with school refusal, work refusal, etc.

Diener doesn't really take anyone with emotional regulation issues. I am an advocate and have had many kids denied with emotional regulation needs. Better to look for a different school or try to work with outside providers.

Have you also considered the Maddux School? Depends on grade but they have kids Pre-K4 up to 3rd grade for next year, and will be expanding up to 5th grade each year from now. They may be helpful to kids of this profile.

I would appreciate any current input on The Diener School.

I have an elementary school aged child who has ADHD. He is fairly below grade level in most subjects. He has emotional regulation issues but can mask well public.

Long term goals would be to get him to grade level, more confidence, better emotional regulation, and ultimately a more mainstream private/public because we can't pay for cost of The Diener School for too long.
