Huh. I'm from NC and have lots of relatives who went to UNC and I would have thought UVA would trump UNC. At 30k cheaper per year, this is a no brainer. Unless you have tons of money and DC really prefers UNC, do UVA.

I would go with UVA and I say this as a UNC grad who knows lots of people who went on to amazing Med schools. Save the money.

If they cost the same I’d go with UNC. With 30k difference, I dunno. Tough choice.

I can't imagine there being an appreciable difference. I'd go with UVA and save the money for med school.

Interesting that your kid got into UNC from OOS and was only waitlisted at UVA. UNC OOS is a very tough admit.

Just had a First Year finish up who is pre-med. He was able to find research opportunity this year, participated in some awesome medical based clubs, and got a great start on his pre-med prerequisites and counseling. The classes are challenging and the grading scale is steep, but I'm sure UNC is the same. Both are excellent choices.

My kid just got off UVA waitlist and have 72 hours to decide. UVA is instate and UNC is OOS which is 30K/year more. Should we stick to UNC OOS or go to UVA for premed. We did like lot of premed opportunities available around UNC. Is UVA as good as UNC for premed?
