If you don’t have some sense of FLDS history and practices, there’s a lot you won’t understand, and that’s probably the fastest way to get some background.
The strength, patience, and bravery that Christine and Tolga had just blow my mind. They are truly remarkable. I’ve thought about Christine’s sentiments at the end. What happens when you stop judging and start helping? Most of us don’t have the stomach to do what Christine and Tolga did, but we could all find ways of adopting that spirit in our own lives (if you haven’t watched that doesn’t mean they condoned abuse in any way- quite the opposite).
That sheriff and his “tender heart” deserves prosecution too. It’s interesting because there’s been a lot of recent media featuring a brewery and coffee shops, and people talking about returning or moving to Short Creek and renewing it as a normal community. It took someone integrating into the community to find the underbelly.
Yes I saw Keep Sweet, Pray and Obey a while back.
The sheriff claiming they can’t do anything based on that sick recording blew me away.
