Church of the Ascension Silver Spring (not far from DC border), if that’s not too far for you.

Thank you for these suggestions. We will be moving to NW DC.

Oh my gosh come to All Souls UU church in Columbia Heights!! It’s exactly what you’re looking for. There are tons of families, we do a monthly parenting potluck after services that’s a great way to meet folks, and an annual Weekend on the Bay that’s also great. The kids start in the service, and then go down to RE (religious education) which is really fun.

All Souls has been a leader in social justice and activism basically since its founding - the DC marriage equality bill was actually signed there. They work closely with Free DC and other orgs, there’s a whole group on voting rights, really anything you can think of!!

There are lots! Where do you live? (Christ Church Alexandria fits that description but I’m wondering if you’re just looking for churches in the city?)

I'm interested in exploring building a faith-based community in DC. We haven't historically been to church as a family, though I attended Episcopalian school and church as a child. Seeking a welcoming Protestant or UU church with progressive values, social justice programs already in place, services that are for both children and adults, and a community where people really do take care of each other.

Could anyone recommend churches we should consider?
