Awards are highly discouraged around here. That is why you don't hear about them. There is very little to gain and so much to lose. For every student that gets an award of any kind, there will be 50 angry parents of students that did not get it. Awards mostly come from external entities, not MCPS.

I shoulda dd that teacher is no longer at RM -- kudos to the RM admin for getting rid of him and unloading him on another MCPS HS. I think he is no longer teaching the advanced classes either. Which is good because he was terrible at it.
