My read is that some teams will be in CHRVA and others in ODR. There are many examples of large USAV clubs in other parts of the country with teams in multiple locations and USAV regions, so that is not new.

Teams from Manassas and even further away already schlep over to MDJRs, so that is also not new or an issue.

I'm sure the details are still in progress, but how would/could this work?

Would 540 stay in ODR (and still operate out of their existing facilities) ... and just have some practices at the American facility? OR, are they completely relocating to Manassas (and likely wouldn't be able to stay in ODR)?

Could the "540 North" component have membership in CHRVA with the original 540 staying put in ODR?

I get the sense that ODR is a bit more lax than CHRVA and I have no idea if the club welcomes a little more organizational and procedural rigor. Imagine players/teams having to schlep over to MDJRS for Bid Regionals ... or any other one-day tourney ... starting matches at 8AM.

American North is completely separate and won’t fold into 540.

That means they have the chance to drop the "North" and call themselves American.

Not today, Satan. Not today.

Good tournament results next season might attract skilled players from the DMV for sure.

This is reality as the girls volleyball continue to increase in popularity.

Not too surprising to see a club fold (this happens from time to time), but interesting to see 540, which is a relatively strong club in the Old Dominion region, expand into northern Virginia and CHRVA. Paramount and Libero would be the most potentially impacted, I would imagine.

I am curious if 540 chooses to rebrand itself, which would make sense because the 540 area code does not apply in northern Virginia, and this potentially would not serve them well.

If private equity can make our team as good as 540, I completely welcome it.

But seriously, they look like a mega club that buys up high performance teams.

540 VBC has a great opportunity to make things great in the Northern part Vrginia. Given that it will be in Manassas I can only assume Paramount will keep a good eye since they are also in Manassas. I only wish great things to come for 540 VBC.

Hello AVC families and the Chesapeake Region volleyball community,

After an incredible journey since 2011, American Volleyball Club will officially close at the end of this season.

What started as a small family dream grew into a community filled with amazing athletes, families, coaches, and memories we will always cherish. Thank you for your trust, support, and dedication throughout the years.

We are very excited to announce that through strategic partnership, 540 Volleyball Club will assume volleyball operations in Manassas beginning July 1. After extensive conversations with their leadership team, we are confident they are the right organization to continue serving athletes and families in Northern Virginia with professionalism, strong leadership, and a commitment to player development.

AVC will remain open through June 30, and all July Beach Program registrations will continue as planned with Coach Javy and staff.

Thank you for being part of the AVC family. This community has meant more than words can express.
