Actually compared to previous years, it's been a very calm and complacent year. Usually there are multiple threads of mothers who felt wronged by their husbands. This year, none. One asked what was reasonable to expect from grown kids, the other was a happy thread, and this one is just plain bizarre.

The others about Mother's Day were created well before the actual day, and I believe were resolved days ago.

OP here. I arrange everything when my mom comes. But I’m not arranging anything for myself.

You shouldn’t have to plan your Mother’s Day. Don’t beat yourself up. We are grilling at home, nothing fancy.

It’s Mother’s Day and I didn’t plan anything for anyone today, including myself. We’re just lying around doing nothing. We’re go out to grab food at some point but nothing fancy/no reservations.

I texted pleasantly with my MIL. I tried to call my mom a couple times this weekend but didn’t get through. She returned my call this morning, barely spoke to me, and then hung up on me.

I didn’t invite her for the weekend. She lives about five hours away.

My mom takes a lot of energy and work. I’m tired. I just want to lie around and do nothing. My kids (teens) are lying around, doing nothing. If she lived closer and we could just do lunch, that would be great. I wasn’t in the right place for a four day visit.

And I can say this until I’m blue in the face but the fact remains that IATA.
