The whole point of Creative Curriculum (and any decent preschool) is that it's open ended and child led, so it doesn't matter if the units are repeated.

Choose based on whether you want Spanish immersion or not. The rest will be the same at any school.

So you’re saying this kid doesn’t need to go to preschool at all? Interesting. Kids on one side of the gap can be supported with what they need and the other side can stay home or go but be frustrated with an environment not designed for them. Well guess it’s good practice for 2nd grade, when one side is getting instruction to “close the gap” and the other side is being pacified or rewarded with screen time.

Maybe this person is saying that this kid will clearly be fine in PK, and the parent should focus on what kind of schooling they want to elementary and middle and high school, which are increasingly important.

I've been there and I guess we just have to go through it to learn. My kids literally don't remember PK3.

OP here. Asked specifically about PK not school overall because we won’t get to be around for later years/MS/HS paths for it to matter. Maybe not everyone is comparing preschool to preschool spot, but I don’t think it warrants the condescending response.

Doesn’t sound like spanish is a high priority for you OP so if not then stay at your current school. Yes kids learn numbers and letters but it’s all in spanish. There is zero english. A large percentage of families coming in will have kids already been exposed to spanish in daycare or nannies and who are proficient and/or fluent in spanish who are not even hispanic.

You nailed it! Like you were inside my head. Preschool considerations: commute >> MS path >> HS path.

My HS kid has no clue where they went to PS3, PK4 or even K.

My youngest is in kinder at MV and did preschool there. It’s lovely. He learned a lot, there was a high focus on play, they went on field trips related to what they were learning, and they focus on social emotional. They set the kids up well for kinder.

Our older kid (now at MV) did PK at a different school. It was also very good. But I think MV did/does it better

Interested in specifics on what preschool is like at Mundo Verde. We're weighing our options between one school we're very familiar with (including existing relationships with staff), trying something new at MV, and waiting out our luck for another waitlist offer.

All I know is they do Creative Curriculum but I don't know which specific units. We are at a school that does this too so wonder if it'd be a repeat experience next year.

Would appreciate input from current or recent past parents on what it's like day-to-day – are they focused on learning letters and numbers? what kind of outdoor play do they get? are there field trips at this age? are there opportunities for art and what's it like – set thing for the whole class or more creative/open? If you have experience to be able to compare or relate to other DCPS or to AppleTree, that would also help.
