Longwood Gardens is lovely, it is worth driving outside the city for that.

Check out the Independence Seaport Museum and the Mutter Museum to see if you’d like them. Both interesting in their own ways…

It's not too far to add on Diggerland in New Jersey. Kids get to drive construction vehicles safely! It was our son's favorite around that age, and mine too honestly.

Find a fun walking tour, like a revolution-themed tour. Duck tours are also fun.

If you're struggling to figure out what else to do there, then why go? Or you could shorten your trip.

If your kids are bored with museums, they're going to be bored with Philly. I'd go somewhere else.

The Franklin Institute, for sure. There is also the Please Touch Museum, but they may be a little too old for that. The Reading Terminal Market is fun for lunch. I would do the zoo rather than the aquarium.

And this is more for the adults, but you should, try to fit in a visit to the Barnes Foundation . . . an amazing private collection of 20th Century art that is truly not to be missed if you can help it. The museum is fairly small, so it won't be overwhelming or take too long, and it's close to the Rocky steps.

Crayola experience is an hour from Philly so skip that. Franklin Institute is a great idea. If the weather is good and your kids like playgrounds, Smith playground is an exciting one. You would probably want to drive there.

I know you said they don't love museums, but the Franklin Institute is great. All hands on, lots of physical things to do (climbing structures, walk through heart, sports related activities, etc). I have to drag my kids out at the end of the day. Last time we went the AC was freezing, so I recommend bringing a hoodie with you.

It takes 3 hours for us to drive to Philadelphia from dmv. We will leave on 6/17 in the morning and back on 6/21 in the morning. Kids are age 7 and 10. Must visits are liberty bell, rocky steps, Chinatown, aquarium, and other than that, we do not know what we could do & where we could go. Kids do not even visit free dc museums, but maybe we will visit at most 1 to pay if it is worthy.

Can someone help us to plan this road trip, where to stay (at least 3 stars hotels and save place) and where to go? We do not mind to check in 2 different hotels if it makes things easier and fun in different stops. Should we do crayola experience, too kiddish for 10 year old? Any other places need to go? We do not have ez pass, can we use toll road to save an hour from 3 hour to w hour drive? How? Thank you!!
