+1. they are VERY expensive and really interfere with normal life. I would seriously look at people in positions you aspire to, and see what their credentials are. Let's suppose most have a top ten MBA. Is that the differentiator to get there in your organization or targets?

I'm 44 year old female working in upper-middle management in tech program management for a Fortune 500. I've been wondering about Executive MBAs and if getting one from a high-caliber university is a) worth it and b) if I'm able to get admitted. I have a BA from a mid tier university in communications - no clue what my GPA was, but can guarantee it wasn't close to a 4.0. However, I've had a solid track record of experience since my college days and also have a PMP certification. If I want to rise in the corporate ranks (VP is my desire), which I think I do, it seems like it will become important to have the pedigree of not only work experience but of education.

So, is a EMBA worth it? If you got it - do you think it was worth it? How difficult was it to get into a top-tier program?
