Summary -- no starting early, but ending early. Adding in November 9th, day before Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve. Setting 4/22 (Passover) and 5/17 (Eid) as potential makeups along with June 11 - June 17.

Thank GOD we're not starting early.

Ridiculous that he's holding onto a transition day. Also, Thanksgiving is one of the most celebrated holidays in the country. It is the most traveled and a half day before Thanksgiving is makes no sense. It's been great being off the day before and the idea of resuming a half day really sucks. It is pointless.

Won't be as unpopular as the early start for 2026, but I don't think this will be popular unless it means last day of school is very early June. (Frederick County MD's calendar is 8/19-6/4 next year).

Looks like the scheduled last day will be 6/11 with potential makeups through the 17th

Yeah, I’m fine with that. But I won’t be fine if MCPS decides to start Aug 15 in SY 27-28 and still not get out until mid-June because we waste so many days on everyone’s pet cause.

TT's previous recommendation to start the school year earlier did not identify any additional makeup days in the spring.

It'll be approved on Thursday. There's five minutes on the agenda so they're not going to debate this much before passage.
