In front of all the parents and other onlookers, not to mention the players, this practically postal coach had some choice words for the ref. It was like watching a car wreck in slow motion. It was sad and a bit frightening to watch. At one point, I truly thought this foaming at the mouth coach would physically attack this ref. To his credit, the ref never lost his composure, though he did say a few things everyone in the crowd was thinking. Perhaps not used to anyone standing up to his bullying, this coach seemed flummoxed and then pulled his team off the field. What a disgrace. I hope the Bethesda League hears about this and takes appropriate action.
I just happened upon this - 2 years later. I was actually at that game - and remember it vividly- the coach is an incredibly seasoned lacrosse coach who is very well-respected in the sport and all throughout the east coast. My son has played for him for several years and will continue to do so if he is lucky enough to play for him in high school. My son was attacked with illegal procedures and slashing by your nephew's team. Your Breakout team was actually an older U11(AA) team, physically larger, but less experienced players. It got very dirty, grabbing jerseys, etc. The coach had to step in because the ref was not calling penalties. There are always two sides to every story. It was a very disappointing day for everyone. Learn the rules of the game before you post something like that again.
