+1 Especially on doesn't matter the order. The Dublin Murder Series were connected but loosely, it's not like you will miss any plot points by reading them nonsequentially.

+2 I unknowingly read the 2nd book first and then went back and read the first one. There's also a good TV series based on the first two books ("Dublin Murders" on Britbox)

I know she's wildly popular. I can't read her. Every time I try I DNF.

The only book of hers I found more meh was the standalone novel "The Witch Elm". Everything else I've really enjoyed.

I absolutely hated The Witch Elm! I’ve read and loved everything else she’s written.

oh y'all; same. Horrible DNF. Every thing else is perfection and the audible narration is magnificent.

anyway, I didn't see a link to the new book so here it is

She’s definitely not overrated, but there’s no shame in preferring lighter, quicker reads.

I'd recommend starting with book 1 of the new series. There's a bit of a slow burn kind of feeling with it and I think it would be much more satisfying to start with book one.

I loved the Dublin murder series - yes, read them in order, they build on each other, taking a side character from the previous book to be the main character in the next.

I'm still reading her new series, but I don't like it as much. I will wait for her newest in my library queue rather than purchasing it to read right away.

Dublin murder series is great. They build on each other loosely - a side detective in one book becomes main detective in next. So helpful for context but not required. That said, if you haven’t read them yet why wouldn’t you start at beginning. FWIW, I far prefer Dublin murder series to newer series.

I read the first two in the series out of order. It was fine. I think it would have been better to read in order, but I wouldn’t let that stop you from reading the third if that’s the most convenient.

Yes to all of this.

I haven't read the new series, in part because I was meh on The Witch Elm. Didn't realize it was already on Book 3, I'll have to add it to my TBR.

I've only read one Tana French novel, but just now saw a review headline praising her new book. This was enough for me to head to Amazon to buy it.

Now I see it's the third book in a series.

Looking for opinions. Should I dive in with book 1?
