Referee/umpire is a terrible idea. Kids need really sophisticated social skills to deal with parents/players/coaches.

How about a food stand job at a pool? Lots of other teens to work with and maybe make a friend, but not requiring a lot of skill.

No. He is generally not interested in anything. After finish his school work, he just walks around inside his room, sometimes does reading.


Is his ro big?

I think a shelf stocker is a great idea because the before and after is very satisfying.

Mine did the summer school program through MCPS for SSL hours and experience. The next summer he applied to mathnasium to be a math tutor.

Ice cream shops that open seasonally. If he is willing to do hard labor, landscapers are usually looking for help. If nothing pans out, some libraries use volunteers for returning books to shelves, etc.

Maybe something like a cashier? Scripted/predictable interactions with strangers might be best, and that’s one place where they happen.

It’s tough to find jobs under 18 though. A lot of places just don’t want to deal with hiring minors.
