That’s not true for the kids in class who refuse to work, which is about 4 kids in my current class.

Yeah, they're not going to do any test prep.

Reviewing concepts at the end of the year is good for retaining info.

The days of not stressing about testing are ending soon. Maybe as soon as next year there will be a large push to increase test scores again. Our school is already modifying pacing and assessment frequency to try to predict how kids will do on their SOLs. It’s baaaaack!

We didn't prepare. His Teachers did some prep in the classroom but we didn't do anything at home.

Please don’t spend any time on this at home. If your child needs to get a high score on a math SOL in order to qualify for an advanced math class, they will have no problem if they really belong in the advanced math class.

For any other child, elementary SOL scores do not count for anything. In other countries, these kinds of tests matter a lot, but not here. The school will note your kid’s score and then move on, and nobody will ever care how they did. The school as a whole is considered by admin based on all the scores, but your kid’s scores do not matter.

Do not stress your kid over SOL testing at all! Please!

Not all teachers or schools give review packets.
