Like if it were totally out of nowhere? I did once, though I went through the person's spouse rather than directly because I was worried they weren't themselves or that their account got hacked. Turned out they were bipolar (unbeknownst before) and having a manic episode on the Internet.

Fwiw the couple was grateful to be checked on, as I hope people would do for me if I suddenly posted a bunch of stuff that was way out of character.

If you are a distant friend of someone who is clearly using social to settle scores and vent anger (not suicidal just mainly dozens upon dozens of posts about how men are evil and being alone is an elevated state of being) plus in various states of undress with political rants would you dm and say hey just checking on you??
