Our child is graduating this year. 2 years lived on campus, 2 years off campus in a large group house. 1st year housing near the main campus, 2nd year up the big hill, last 2 years great location with good friends. The kids who are put in housing that YOU wouldn't prefer turn out to bond over that housing, and none of them were miserable over it

Parent of Pitt alum - are you able to join any of the parent fb groups? You may find info there or possibly a parent you know that you can connect with offline.

PO here: Read those, thanks. Am interested in current parent perspective and experiences. It’s not just the housing, it’s the availability of courses, faculty, student services. It’s been frustrating that our outreach to get information from the school get “customer service” tickets and non-responses. My student really likes Pitt so we are interested in the plan to manage the planned rapid growth over the next few years.

My DD is a freshman. She is in the Towers. When we moved her in we learned that the study lounge on each floor was converted to a quad. I was worried that there wouldn't be a communal place to hang and bathrooms/elevators would be crowded. It was fine. My daughter loves it. She has friends at the Hampton Inn and says that is fine too.

Has Pitt informed students, or parents, about measures planned for the upcoming academic year to manage increased enrollment? As a prospective parent, I read the news stories and facebook posts about last fall's housing situation (hotels turned into dorms, double converted to quads, etc.). When I emailed Pitt directly, I got a customer service ticket and a non-response. Just wondering if any of you have some sense of what to expect for the upcoming year. Or...if your freshman experienced any of the housing issues, how did it play out over the course of the year? Thank you!
