My adhd kid has in her accommodation plan extra time too but it’s mostly wasted as she rushes everything. It’s nice to have extra time to turn in missing work or an extra day to complete homework.
She gets breaks if needed, she can get up and walk around as long as not disruptive.
Verbal instructions in addition to written especially when testing. She’ll rush through and not pay attention. But if teacher verbally makes sure she understands she does much better

My DD was recently diagnosed with dyslexia and adhd. She’s bright and can read, but it takes her MUCH longer to do her work than other kids. Her teachers have been informally accommodating her for a while by offering her extra time on various assignments…but the extra time on one assignment cuts into time on the next assignment. Right now, the stakes are very low—she has no homework, and “grades” in 3rd grade seem pretty meaningless. She scores 3s and 4s in most areas.

What are accommodations that are actually useful for a kid who takes two or three times as long to complete work as peers, but is very capable of doing well on all of the work? Won’t giving her extra time just mean that she falls behind on other work?
