Another option, can you give a recorded statement vs a video statement? This is what I would do; a happy medium.

Is the grant committee a government agency? If so, the video would be part of the public record if presented to apply for a grant. Your name might not be given to preserve confidentiality.

I would ask for a written release statement. Read it carefully and only sign if the language says the video will be used solely in pursuit of the specific grant and either cannot be used or will be destroyed after a particular date. Make sure you get a countersigned copy.

You can also say no, you aren't comfortable on video.

I survived a drowning as a child and that is what this non-profit was founded to prevent. There is an option to decline being video interviewed and also the promise is that the video will only be shown to the grant committee.

Are there reasons one might decline to be video interviewed in this case? What risks would you foresee with being recorded vs. sharing a written statement?
