Had 2 kids graduate from there--there's no way your kid would be just a number. The school has 60 kids max in a grade with 4 sections per class. Impossible to fly under the radar. Everyone knows everyone. It's a nurturing school to a fault. Some teachers have retired, but the HOS is well liked and high school matriculations are solid.

I do think occasionally families new to private will go in with expectations that for the expensive tuition, they are going to get a very individualized experience which is unrealistic for any mainstream private school. With that said, Langley has learning specialists, counselors, a low teacher student ratio, etc. to make sure no one is falling through the cracks.

Obviously they mean The Langley School as this is the PRIVATE school forum!

Langley's high school placement has been fantastic. The school really does a good job with getting the right fit and sends kids to basically every independent school in the area, plus the occasional Northeast and Mid-Atlantic boarding school.

+1 HARD agree! Especially when you factor in the parents who send their kids to public elementary to save for high school... Rarely do you hear of parents wanting private just for K-8 and the 9th grade bottle neck is tight if it was just private to private...

I was the person who said this because I was nervous for you with another feed on top at the time you posted. The responses you have gotten so far are worth trusting

I would rent a house in Langley O. for at least two years to see if that school is a good match to my kid. If it’s not, we can easily switch to the public HS that is next to the neighborhood.

We've had two kids at Langley over the last 9 years.

Our children have had a great experience. They do not treat your kid as a number. Quite the contrary, you will be amazed at how well they know your children.

Every year families leave for various reasons. Sometimes an older sibling gets into a high school and brings along the younger sibling. Sometimes people move or sometimes it's for financial reasons. I have rarely heard of families leaving because they were unhappy.

As a public school kid, I was initially lukewarm on the idea of attending. But I have zero regrets for choosing Langley to educate our kids.

But also, like the source on the street matters.
Close friend at Langley ✅
Parent from another school that just likes to talk smack about the other schools ❌

We enrolled for fall but now hearing about unhappy teachers, kids treated as numbers, and families leaving. Any truth to this??
