If he visited both schools, just roll with it. I have family that went to both. If he's choosing Vassar over Williams, now might be the time to have a talk. We love you, and it's totally ok to be... and so on.

Anyone else have a similar situation? DS is interested in art/art history and cognitive science.

In that, according to Vassar's site, its "cognitive science department has the oldest undergraduate cog sci degree-granting program in the world," Vassar may represent the obvious answer for a student interested in this field of study.

Why does that even matter?

What’s the Vassar social life like? It’s on my kid’s final list.

meant to add - but if I had not gotten into Wes, I would have chosen Vassar over Williams. Williams to me felt dominated by athletes and very preppy and isolated.

I don't see ANYTHING wrong with that choice. There is NOTHING special about Williams vis-a-vis any of the top 15 liberal arts colleges. It all comes down to fit and major.

Not what I would do but it isn't totally wacky. Different cultures and if he feels more comfortable at Vassar, it is what it is.

Good thing he didn't ED to Williams then. Congrats to him on making his choice of Vassar!
