Great, thanks for this feedback. Also for the feedback about things to ask or look for, that's actually quite helpful. I'm quickly realizing there is a lot to educate myself about MS very quickly to make sure we make the right decisions for our kid.

Normal for 4th grade families to go.

I'd like to start getting a feel for whether Deal will be a good fit, or if we should more deeply explore other options like Private. Is it OK to sign up and go, or is that frowned upon/not the purpose? I assume there are also tours again in the early Fall (or I hope?), but by then we'll need to quickly start making decisions on applications etc. Thanks!

Yes you can sign up. They’re super informal, and we saw some rising fifth graders there.

Nobody cares, in private or public, if you show up at an open house and you're not applying/attending in the immediate future. Some private schools are having spring admissions events this month and next if you want to get a head start there.

You can just show up. It's not that formal.

Do yourself a favor and explore the math and ELA curriculum. Ask hard questions about acceleration and what courses are actually available. I would also ask about Ed tech and what books (and How many) are read for English.
