No, you do not make her repeat 1st grade due to her physical size! She will likely be small her whole life and will have to deal with that no matter what. Do not create a new problem for her (boredom in school because she learned already, plus knocking her confidence by placing her with younger kids), based on a hypothetical problem you’ve created in your mind.

Have you considered your DD’s self esteem when you hold her back one year? “Sorry Larla, you can’t be in class with your friends because you are petite.” This is crazy talk.

No, this isn’t really a valid reason for repeating a grade. If she has “petite genes” as you say, then her peers will always be bigger than her.

“Being held back” and “repeating 1st grade” are the same thing. Both mean the child would do 1st grade again next year instead of moving on to 2nd.

You’ve spoken an out her physical size but haven’t mentioned her birthdate relative to your school cut off. If she’s doing well socially and academically why would you consider holding her back simply for being petite?

She could also always be the smallest, whether she’s 8 or 18. What is gained for her if you hold her back?

OP here. I meant she just passed 7, but 6.

DD just passed 6. she is 3'8'' and 40 lbs. very petite. so she looks like two years smaller than her 1st grade peers. people always guess she is 4-5.
But academicwise she is outsmart most of her peers, and so far i am not seeing any social problem from her - most of time she is the leader of her group. yes, the kids listen to her and follow her.

I am concerned that she will get bullied and be less confident if she is much smaller than her peers when growing. she has petite genes. so should I hold her back?
